THE PLAN, 2010.

I haven’t really explained much on how I got the name ONESIXTYNOTEPAD and after months, I finally got a picture of the inspiration behind this blog. ONESIXTYNOTEPAD refers to the price of the notepad where I would draft scribbles about the things I want to write. The pen that I write with has to be a Uni Laknock 1.4 and that’s my blogging station.

Anyway.

I started blogging years ago for one simple reason: To improve my language and practice writing. (I went from an E-grade to second in class thankfully.) I loved fashion all along but Glam Publisher Network gave me the opportunity to contribute for them. This lead to that and blabla, I unintentionally set up a fashion blog (Not referring to OSN) while documenting my life in fashion school.

ONESIXTYNOTEPAD was labeled as the ‘bitchy’ one or the most opinionated (a preferred adjective) in the local blogsphere and I’m totally okay with it because it is what it is. I have no problem talking about the PR that was rude to me or about an event that failed. If you want the real deal, then read ONESIXTYNOTEPAD. If you want to see a coated review, I’m sorry to disappoint you, this is not the place. I refuse to be pretentious with my content (or bribe for your readership) but now that this blog is becoming more and more commercialized, I’m trying to find a balance of both. The personality of this blog won’t fade and I will still say what I have to say.

Despite what you might have heard from that unofficial ambassador of ONESIXTYNOTEPAD, about me try to build an empire out of this humble blog is simply not true. I’ve been planning this for sometime now, since I’ve started this blog and it is really time for me to invite people in to ONESIXTYNOTEPAD. It’s time for me to really focus on school, family and start doing what I love to do.

It is unclear to how I plan to let the blog grow, still at its early stage of discussion. One thing for sure, I will never abandon this space as this blog kept my dreams alive.

LANVIN HOMME- LUCAS OSSENDRIJVER.

Another ‘first-to-see’ collection for every men’s fashion week is Lanvin. While many know Alber Elbaz as the successor behind present Lanvin, the designer of men’s ready-to-wear is Lucas Ossendrijver.

Previously, Ossendrijver worked for Dior Homme with Hedi Slimane—Yeah, that collection that everyone raved about. With the success of Dior Homme, he soon joined Lanvin in ’05.

Lanvin Homme has its own identity, like how I think Miu Miu Homme, Burberry or Dries does, it is unique in its own way and you will never mistaken it for a Dunhill or a Zegna.

There is so many things that I need in life; a trench from Burberry, A bag from Hermes, a silk tie from dries but there are too many that I need from Lanvin; Let’s start with the beaded sneakers.

FOREVER 21- LIVE BLOGGING.

My new friend was indeed showing off her Chanel watch, and she told me to marry her husband if I needed a watch like hers. Still contemplating…but I hope that offer won’t expire soon. Kidding.

My station was down and the negative force given out by an unidentified object nearby was giving me the creeps. (Joking, insiders joke! ) No, I was busy with pictures and the store that I didn’t really have the time to update ‘live’ on anything. Plus, everyone was out on a Sunday! So I thought why not get a good coverage and blog later.

A day before the event, Forever 21 sponsored the bloggers with an outfit to be worn on the day itself. (My outfit cost about: 21 + 23 = 44) Perhaps it wouldn’t be much of a challenge for me if I weigh like how I used to a year ago. (The cardigan sleeve ripped apart when I got home) All the blogger were also given an additional hundred dollar vouchers each and goodie bag! Tysm Forever 21.The live blogging was a blast despite the constant battle with aunties for space. I had so much fun bonding with bloggers (who bothered to say hi) and the people there!

Girls, why are you complaining about having nothing to wear?! Head down to Forever 21 at 313@Somerset like asap. There is so many to choose from! Bring me along if you wanna go shopping okay? I want to put that Dries inspired skirt on someone.

MUDDLE MAYHEM.

And that’s how we say it in Hi-Fashin; muddles. I was living my dream for a couple of hours the other day—To be surrounded by muddles in non-fashion situation kinda thing. You know, models off-duty, hanging out with all my muddle friends.

Okay, I might have exaggerated and they are not really my friends. They were model we met earlier at Bally and previous shows and coincidentally they were friend of Massi. Massi invited me over for mushroom risotto at his place and then muddles starts flocking and dancing to Thriller. (That was before the landlord came up and start nagging.)

Contrary to what you might believe, models are really friendly and they do eat... Moderately.

LOUIS VUITTON PRESS DAY S2010.

Well I was of course representing MYKROMAG for the Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2010 press presentation. This blog wouldn’t come close to getting an invite to a luxury brand press day. I’m very sure of that because this was how the Communications Manager greeted me; “actually, we don’t invite blogs to our events”. I was expecting an introduction; maybe that’s how it works in Singapore? Because I’m pretty sure that Marc Jacobs and BryanBoy are good friends.

Don't get me wrong, i love the brand and i would shave my head to wear those afro wigs but i dislike being disrespected just because I'm young.

FOREVER 21- 313@SOMERSET STORE OPENING.

Part 1 Of Forever21 At 313@Somerset.

Ladies and Gentlemen: (By gentlemen I meant guys who can fit into ladies clothes), our much needed fashion stimulus is finally here! Following today’s store opening, you can call me a recent convert to the brand.

If you thought UNIQLO was huge, wait till you see Forever 21 flagship store at 313@Somerset. Technically it’s smaller, measuring at 16,000 square feet but the four level-shopping space creates an illusion of the biggest clothing store you’ve ever been to!

As a (very opinionated) consumer, I tend to analyze everything from quality of service to interior. A very important but neglected factor of most women’s clothing store is its visual merchandising. I am very pleased looking at the window display; the styling of the mannequin was impressive and the store simply challenges my imagination with its lively interior. (Imagine what I would do to myself in that store if I were a girl. Sigh)

The only weak spot was the warm low ceiling lights on the first floor. Would you mind sweating a bucket for really affordable accessories? Of course not! Give me an empty pool and I’ll sweat for the cheap prices over at Forever21 anytime!

To celebrate the opening of their new Flagship store, Forever 21 is offering special launch prices on their apparel and accessories across all their Singapore stores! So hurry!

THIS IS A RIDHWAN APPRECIATION POST.

Hey Ridhwan.

You must have been sent from heaven to earth to change me and you’re like an angel, you’re something special. I only hope that I’ll one day deserve what you’ve given me, but all I can do is try, everyday of my life.

Okay, I totally stole those lines from Shane ward’s ‘breathless’ but you get my drift.

There’s a saying that goes something like “a true friend is someone who thinks that you’re a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked.” There’s a definite truth to that quote, no matter how bad things are, we try to lift each other higher.

Isn’t it amazing how our disjunctive characteristic keeps us grounded, you keep me grounded and vice versa. For the good, it made me a happier person and for the bad, it makes us learn.

Thank you for being a family friend and a great friend to myself. To make this post even creepier, I’ll end it this way; you’ll be my JP and I’ll be your Sonny! Hah!

DRIES VAN NOTEN SPRING 2010.

The menswear collection hinted a come-back and explore more into the ethnic elements which he have been doing in the past years. The absence of ethnic elements last season was shocking but I love it still.

While many of my generations do not get the appeal of Dries Van Noten’s collection, I am very pleased with what he had to offer this spring. I thought his collection was based upon two principles; authenticity and appreciation-- An appreciation towards artisanship and his design aesthetic combined.
