BURBERRY SPRING SUMMER 2010 AD CAMPAIGN.

I hate to say it but, i told you so!

''This campaign celebrates our heritage and our timeless Burberry icons. The energy of the images and the dynamic cast reflect the different attitudes and expressions of the Burberry guy and girl.

We've worked again with Emma Watson who has a classic, effortless beauty and is incredibly talented. Alongside Emma we have four British guys; Emma's younger brother Alex Watson, Matt Gilmour, Max Hurd and George Craig.

We always talk about how much fun we have making these images and I wanted to capture some of the excitement that you feel on set when all these different creative attitudes and personalities come together. Mario has shot these as both stills and video so we can share some of that energy with a wider audience”.

LOUIS VUITTON PRESS DAY S2010.

Well I was of course representing MYKROMAG for the Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2010 press presentation. This blog wouldn’t come close to getting an invite to a luxury brand press day. I’m very sure of that because this was how the Communications Manager greeted me; “actually, we don’t invite blogs to our events”. I was expecting an introduction; maybe that’s how it works in Singapore? Because I’m pretty sure that Marc Jacobs and BryanBoy are good friends.

Don't get me wrong, i love the brand and i would shave my head to wear those afro wigs but i dislike being disrespected just because I'm young.

Read the official report of the Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2010 press presentation (Singapore) by Nabil Aliffi on the MYKROMAG BLOG.

DRIES VAN NOTEN SPRING 2010.

The menswear collection hinted a come-back and explore more into the ethnic elements which he have been doing in the past years. The absence of ethnic elements last season was shocking but I love it still.

While many of my generations do not get the appeal of Dries Van Noten’s collection, I am very pleased with what he had to offer this spring. I thought his collection was based upon two principles; authenticity and appreciation-- An appreciation towards artisanship and his design aesthetic combined.

CHANEL PRE-FALL 2010.

Like any other Chanel shows, I don’t dare discuss its collection mainly because of its unique process and handwork. But i'll say: This was the most ‘aesthetically pleasing’ Chanel collection I’ve ever seen in seasons.

While the Coco Chanel short film, ‘Paris-Shanghai’ directed by Karl Lagerfeld was a major flop (Picture Baptiste Giabiconi as a Chinese immigrant) and provided us with good laughs, the collection was nothing like that.

Staged on a really large barge, the floating venue anchored at the heart of the Huangpu River overlooking the famous skyscraper. The only thing missing was Daul.

STEVE MADDEN- STYLE: SHOWDOWN.

Despite the downfall of 2002, shoe mogul Steve Madden is still going strong. Opening its first outlet in Singapore was just the start of his many ventures, with plan to collaboration with Olsen Twins label, Elizabeth and James is the next step for the company.

The official opening kicks off with Style: Week, a fashion show organized by style: magazine and shoes by Steve Madden. It was humid and I almost died in my blazer but when I saw ‘free pair of shoes on us’ I was beginning to revive from my death very quickly.

A chat with Mr. John Madden and Ms. Gabriela sums up the whole event. He was stressing on Singapore’s hot weather, other than that, both of them completes the fun day at the event.
Besides women’s accessories, shoes for the men are also available at their store. (The PR told me that they do carry apparel in the states, so I hope it will come to Singapore soon!)

Do drop by Steve Madden at ION Orchard, #b2-12/13.

BURBERRY PRORSUM, SPRING 2010.

Accompanying the 25th Anniversary of London Fashion week, Bailey brought Burberry back to home ground. The sumptuous Burberry show closed London Fashion Week Spring 2010 presentation.

My fondness towards a collection grow when I analyze the pieces separately and how the designer’s aesthetic coexists well together with the brand’s heritage. In the case of Burberry, how the classic trench coat and signature gabardine had evolved and adapt to Bailey’s modern and young vision he had for Burberry.
