KARL LAGERFELD IS NEVER HAPPY ANYWAYS.

CHANEL PRE-FALL 2010.

Like any other Chanel shows, I don’t dare discuss its collection mainly because of its unique process and handwork. But i'll say: This was the most ‘aesthetically pleasing’ Chanel collection I’ve ever seen in seasons.

While the Coco Chanel short film, ‘Paris-Shanghai’ directed by Karl Lagerfeld was a major flop (Picture Baptiste Giabiconi as a Chinese immigrant) and provided us with good laughs, the collection was nothing like that.

Staged on a really large barge, the floating venue anchored at the heart of the Huangpu River overlooking the famous skyscraper. The only thing missing was Daul.

COUTURE FALL 2009 HIGHLIGHTS.

We’ll ever see anything like Christian Dior Fall Couture 2006 ever again--It was the most impressive collection to date. To see no Anna on Couture week and seeing no red at Valentino, this season was disappointing.

Lacroix was expected not to show this season, but he did. A shows with a story to tell but it was mediocrity that he presented.
Im baffled, Givenchy looking a little like Theysken, the only thing that could relate to Tisci’s esthetic was studs and more metal studs to follow. Speaking of copycats, the obvious was Elie Saab with an all-white show, it was beautiful. Karl Lagerfeld did that at the same exact location where Saab showed his Fall Couture.

I love what Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli did at Valentino. The workmanship that went to each individual piece was impressive, despite it not looking anything like Valentino. Yes, I won’t discuss Chanel.

BEAR LAGERFELD.

While i will measure success with the number of Tods loafers i have, Uncle Karl decide to do so by immortalizing himself as a bear. The Karl Bear, a collaboration of Karl Lagerfeld and German stuffed toy maker Steiff has made it's way to Singapore. Of the 2,500 produced, only 2 Karl Bears are available for the Singapore buyers. Made of black silk cravat and Swarowski crystals, it cost SGD 2498 a pop. Like any other 'innovative' goods by Uncle Karl, it pretty much doesn't make sense for the ordinary people- Like me.

The Karl Bears are available exclusively at Tanglin Mall, one of which are being displayed in Millenia Walk.

CHANEL CRUISE 2010.

Just because it's Lagerfeld, we only have the nicest thing to say. There's always an injection of tackiness to every collection, I've never liked it as a whole, neither do i like it as a garment on its own. I'm talking about designs, not presentation, hair or make-up. Hopefully one day I will understand why a lame' dress is fit for a cruise collection.
