STEVE MADDEN- STYLE: SHOWDOWN.

Despite the downfall of 2002, shoe mogul Steve Madden is still going strong. Opening its first outlet in Singapore was just the start of his many ventures, with plan to collaboration with Olsen Twins label, Elizabeth and James is the next step for the company.

The official opening kicks off with Style: Week, a fashion show organized by style: magazine and shoes by Steve Madden. It was humid and I almost died in my blazer but when I saw ‘free pair of shoes on us’ I was beginning to revive from my death very quickly.

A chat with Mr. John Madden and Ms. Gabriela sums up the whole event. He was stressing on Singapore’s hot weather, other than that, both of them completes the fun day at the event.
Besides women’s accessories, shoes for the men are also available at their store. (The PR told me that they do carry apparel in the states, so I hope it will come to Singapore soon!)

Do drop by Steve Madden at ION Orchard, #b2-12/13.

BURBERRY PRORSUM, SPRING 2010.

Accompanying the 25th Anniversary of London Fashion week, Bailey brought Burberry back to home ground. The sumptuous Burberry show closed London Fashion Week Spring 2010 presentation.

My fondness towards a collection grow when I analyze the pieces separately and how the designer’s aesthetic coexists well together with the brand’s heritage. In the case of Burberry, how the classic trench coat and signature gabardine had evolved and adapt to Bailey’s modern and young vision he had for Burberry.

WHAT TO WEAR- JOB INTERVIEW.

I can’t exactly remember what I wore to my last job interview, but I think it was a navy button-down cardigan with black pants and a Gucci sandals. That ladies and gentleman, (according to men.style.com) is what NOT to wear to a job interview. Well maybe it wasn’t that major of a faux pas since it was just a sales associate position for Jessica Simpson’s shoe line. (Which until now I can’t believe why I was so willing to stand for hours to sell shoes for her.)

Anyway, now that I’m approaching adulthood soon (not that fast, but soon), I guess I should share my bit of the ‘job interview etiquette’. There’s basically no rule except for the ‘dress your best’ rule if you’re interviewing for a creative position (e.g. Web designer, editor etc) but these tips are necessary for the service, administrative and business sector.

1. Wear a grey or blue suit. Please be careful, as there is a difference between charcoal grey and black suit. Wear your black suit on the first day of work but not during a job interview.

2.White shirt are is a must and it should be of the classic point collar.

3. Your shoes have to be lace-up, any styles but in black or brown only.

Personally I don’t abide with those rules because I don’t own half of the thing mentioned above and I don’t want to die in Singapore’s heat. Plus, I don’t think those factors influence that much when it comes to hiring.

BURBERRY TRENCHCOAT - ART OF THE TRENCH.

Along with Chanel’s tweet jacket and the Hermes Birkin (whose reputation was tarnished by Heidi Montag), Burberry trench coat has become one of the most iconic pieces in fashion. Designed for the war officers during wartimes, the trenchcoat gained popularity among the civilians when war ends. Back then; the brand was called ‘Burberrys’. (Now I know why my mom, who used to work for an English family calls it ‘Burberrys’ till now)

About a century and a half later (153 years to be exact), the company known for its trench coats will launch a campaign called “ ART OF THE TRENCH” – To promote Burberry as a trenchcoat company and encourage people to wear trench coat as an outerwear and not just an apparel to shelter you from the rain. Rain or shine, I wear my trench coat (not a Burberry but I wished it was!) anytime possible. Okay, whom am I kidding right; even a shirt is too hot for Singapore’s weather.

Burberry menswear collection definitely possesses the ‘booms’ factor. Don’t-chu just love the long sleeved leopard pweens top with bondage band for the Spring 2010 collection? (Read My Review Here)

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN SPRING 2010

October 6th saw the best presentation (and collection) of Spring Summer 2010 and it was by Alexander McQueen. Just when you thought Mcqueen couldn’t get any extreme after last season’s sex-doll lips (which I find really attractive) -- To top last fall’s theatrical presentation, he brought us to the mythical underworld, presumably The Atlantis. My first thought was “Plavalaguna? ”.
I would describe it as ‘a new vision’, a new beautiful vision. Nothing like we’ve seen before.

LG GD900 CRYSTAL PHONE.

Back in June I won for myself an LG GD900 Crystal Phone via Fash-E’s LG phone giveaway. The result came right in time when I was about to buy an iPhone, lucky me, not exactly. Approximately two months after postponing the delivery date twice, the phone finally arrived—with dent on the battery, scratches on the back, no memory card, no warranty card and no security seal whatsoever. (We have four ‘LG Viewty’ so I don’t see why this one should be different from the rest no?)

We did an exchanged. This time it was better, but the missing components were still missing. By this time I had all my contacts and files uploaded on the phone so I had to do another exchange, which I didn’t because I simply can’t be bothered. I regret not buying an iPhone, potential buyers, place your bids!

The Bad:
- The phone goes dead without any ‘low-battery’ signals
- Does not allow you to see incoming calls when main screen is locked ( which means you can’t avoid calls from annoying people.)
- Display icons are too compact, really messy and if you have fat fingers, you’ll end up pressing the wrong buttons.
- Overly sensitive touch screen. When the phone is pressed against your cheek, the conversation will end.
- Not user-friendly.
- It lags and screen froze most of the time.

The Good:
- The LG GD900 score high points for design— “its sliding, translucent keypad illuminates a cool glow that reflects the phone’s sleek and polished silver body”.
- The 8 mpg Camera snaps high resolutions pictures, the digicam- esque settings allow easy editing.
- Wide screen video in perfect color and details!
- Sensor motion gaming, you can even blow bubbles with your phone, Virtually that is!
- Many applications mean endless exploration.
- You can write with your fingers!
